JJAY is a campus companion app for John Jay College of Criminal Justice students. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What Data We Collect
- Email address — used for account creation and authentication via Supabase Auth. Only
@jjay.cuny.edu addresses are accepted.
- Professor reviews — reviews you submit are stored in our database and visible to other JJAY users.
- App preferences — your theme preference (light, dark, or system) is stored locally on your device.
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not track your location.
- We do not collect device identifiers for advertising.
- We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties.
- We do not use analytics or crash reporting services.
How Data Is Stored
- Account data and user-generated content are stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS).
- Local preferences are stored on your device via AsyncStorage.
- Authentication tokens are stored securely using Expo SecureStore.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Deletion permanently removes your email, reviews, and all associated data. This action cannot be undone.
Campus Information
- Academic calendar dates, events, facility hours, and professor information are sourced from publicly available John Jay College and CUNY resources.
- Professor rating data is aggregated from public sources including RateMyProfessors.
